About This Spot

Stepping into The Lazy Goose feels like settling into a quiet corner of the English countryside where time gently slows down. Nestled along Alkerton Road in Eastington, this coffee house and bed & breakfast offers a warm embrace of calm, where the morning light filters softly through large windows, and the inviting scent of freshly brewed coffee mingles with the promise of homemade cakes.

The atmosphere here is unhurried and comforting, a gentle pause from the outside world. It’s the kind of place where locals and visitors alike linger over buttery toast spread thick with locally sourced butter and a choice of fruity jams, or savor a slice of Victoria sponge or hummingbird cake alongside a rich mocha. The kitchen’s steady rhythm, matched by the arrival of freshly baked pastries from a nearby artisan bakery, fills the space with a welcoming familiarity—not flashy, but deeply rooted in thoughtful care.

Upstairs, the bedrooms carry that same sense of warmth and ease, offering generously sized, spotless rooms that feel more like a quiet home away from home than a typical overnight stop. The beds promise restful sleep and the simple comforts of thoughtful touches—a kettle and instant coffee for late-night teas, a mirror nook bathed in soft light, and bathrooms designed to help you unwind after the day’s journey. It’s easy to imagine waking refreshed, lingering over coffee and cake in the sunny breakfast room before setting out on a day of local discovery or a celebration nearby.

The Lazy Goose quietly balances the charm of a countryside retreat with the practical needs of today’s travellers. With ample parking and a peaceful backyard seating area, it invites visitors to savor the little moments—whether sharing stories over cakes and coffee or finding a restful pause on a journey to Wales or a wedding celebration just minutes away. Here, hospitality is less about grand gestures and more about a sincere attention to the simple, human comforts that turn a stopover into something quietly memorable.

Lovely big rooms. Exceptionally clean. Had everything you could need. Check in was very easy, as was getting our coffee and croissants the next morning. We were staying overnight before a wedding and had 4 rooms. We walked to The Badger for a family meal (great food). The Lazy Goose is convenient for those attending weddings at Kingscote Barns (only 14 minutes drive). Would definitely recommend the accommodation and would stay there again.

Had the pleasure of staying at The Lazy Goose on Friday night whilst my partner and two girls stayed with the bridal party. We were attending a wedding the next day at the nearby Eastington Park Estate. The room was first class with an ensuite bathroom, iron and ironing board to ensure a pressed shirt. Towels and toiletries provided. The bed was extremely comfortable. And the staff and complimentary breakfast were fantastic. We even popped back in to the Coffee house for before leaving on the Sunday.Would recommend it to anyone and certainly would use again if in the area. Thank you for my stay.

Central location and easy to find with ample car parking. Comfortable room with all facilities we needed. One observation would be that a hand rail in the bath would make access to the shower easier. Would stay here again.

Our stay at The Lazy Goose was absolutely lovely. We booked a king-size room, which was very spacious with plenty of storage for luggage and other belongings. The bed was large and extremely comfortable. The room also had a small mirror area with a kettle, instant coffee, and other amenities, as well as a hairdryer. The bathroom was very nice, offering both a shower/bathtub option. The water was pleasantly warm — especially appreciated during the winter. The hotel itself is in a great location with a peaceful atmosphere and a lovely view. We slept very well. The garden is beautifully maintained and inviting to sit outside and relax. The included breakfast was served in the on-site café, where we enjoyed an excellent cappuccino and a great selection of sweet treats such as fudge brownies, croissants, carrot cake, and more. The café staff were also exceptionally friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better. All in all, we were very satisfied with our stay and would definitely come back!

Ideally situated for an overnight stop on our trip to Wales. The rooms are big, warm, comfy and a big superibg bed. The in-bath shower is great, but if you are short or have mobility issues then it's a big step into and out of the bath. Very quiet, lots of parking. There's a big outside seating area out the back. The coffee shop is really nice, plenty of options, a good selection of cakes and pastries. Breakfast is included in the price of the room, and the sourdough cheese toastie was excellent. If you eat at The Badger pub (5 mins walk away) you get a discount off your food bill.

Stopped by the coffee house and tried the banana loaf, which was excellent—moist, flavourful, and clearly homemade. The café had a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere with friendly staff. Limited experience beyond that, but it left a very positive impression overall.

Terrific place, only stopped for coffee and cake ... the choice of which is almost impossible ... so many delicious ones to choose from. I haven't seen the bedrooms, but I can only imagine they are pretty splendid, judging by the rest of the building. There's a real feeling of cosiness, whilst being very spacious, service is friendly and welcoming and there's ample parking. I'm certainly going to be a regular visitor
